Organisation Development and Consultancy

This course teaches students how to implement change as a manager, consultant or specialist change agent. It provides important skills that allow management of the process of organisational development, including thinking creatively about solutions and gaining a deeper understanding of strategy. Students: develop the skills needed to become an expert in change management; combine specialist knowledge of organisational development with practical implementation skills; benefit from a range of learning methods, including lectures and practical skills sessions; attend workshops with students from other courses to improve their overview of modern organisations.

Entry requirements

Normally a good 1st degree or an equivalent recognised professional qualification in a business or social science related discipline from an approved awarding body; students may already have developed substantial knowledge, experience and skills in a relevant field; if they don�t have a 1st degree their applications are still welcome and are considered on an individual basis; if the student's 1st language is not English they must show a high level of written and verbal English language proficiency; a TOEFL test minimum mark, paper-based 570, computer-based 235, or IELTS 6.0, is the standard for non-native speakers of English.

Course modules

Developing strategies for change; consultancy theory and processes; nature of organisation development; design of organisations; facilitation and change agency in organisational development; leadership and organisation development; organisation development and change; research methods; dissertation.

Assessment methods

Each module is assessed by written assignment. For the MSc there is also a dissertation.
