This programme allows students to develop evidence-based research and a full doctoral thesis, equivalent to a PhD, whilst continuing to pursue a career as a senior professional or manager. It is ideal for those people who want to make a difference to the way that management and professional practice is developed in their specialism. Students contribute to the latest evidence-based professional thinking; improve their ability to reflect on complex problems and consider them from a range of viewpoints; critically appraise their own insights as a manager or senior professional.
Normally an MBA, or Master's qualification in a relevant area; be pursuing, or have pursued, a significant career in professional or business areas that fall within the research interests of Sheffield Business School; display evidence of your potential to develop work of doctoral standard. For applicants whose 1st language is not English: IELTS 7.0 overall with no element under 6.5; or TOEFL internet-based test with an overall score of 100, with a minimum of 23 in listening, 23 in reading, 26 in writing and 22 in speaking. Exceptionally, applicants without a Master�s degree may be considered who: have a good 1st degree in an appropriate discipline; and have at least 3 years� management or professional experience; and can demonstrate continued development/education since graduation.
Year 1: philosophies of research in business and management; leadership and organisation; year 2: contemporary issues in organisation and management; research design and execution; years 3 and 4: fieldwork and thesis.
Continuous assessment and a detailed research proposal. We assess your research through your thesis.
