Suitable for recent graduates and qualified professionals, this course allows students to develop the essential technical and business skills required to begin, or develop, a career as a quality professional. They learn how to use quality management processes and techniques to build innovative customer-focused businesses that are sustainable and robust, and about the theory of quality management and its practical application. The course also provides the opportunity to gain certification from UK, European and American professional bodies.
Normally students need 1 of the following: an honours degree; a recognised postgraduate qualification; or an equivalent recognised professional qualification in a relevant subject: such as business management, IT and computing, finance, accounting, economics, banking, law, natural sciences. Applicants without these relevant academic qualifications may be considered individually, based on their personal, professional and work experience and other formal qualifications. Applicants whose 1st language is not English: TOEFL test minimum mark, paper-based 550, computer-based 213, internet-based 79; or an IELTS score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in all skills.
Semester 1 postgraduate certificate: operations and performance; methods of enquiry; fundamentals of quality; information strategy for a global economy. Semester 2 postgraduate diploma: statistical process control and 6 sigma; European Foundation quality management assessor; leadership and strategies for change; e-supply chain management. Semester 3 MSc: research methods; dissertation.
