Coaching and Mentoring
The course aims to develop your skills as a mentor or coach for use in contexts such as leadership, management and consultancy on this postgraduate course. Now recognised as an important role in organisations, the ability to coach and mentor as well as monitor the effectiveness of these activities can offer you new career development opportunities. students will learn about the latest thinking and research into the areas of coaching and mentoring and see the benefits of their learning immediately, with work-based assignments.
Applicants should normally hold a good 1st degree or an equivalent recognised professional qualification, in a business or social science-related discipline from an approved awarding body. Applicants without a degree but with significant experience may also be considered. Students whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.0 or equivalent (with a minimum 5.5 in each component).
Modules include: Coaching and mentoring skills and techniques; developing strategies for change; coaching and mentoring and leadership; the psychology and practice of coaching and mentoring; consultancy theory and processes; coaching and mentoring supervision; coaching and mentoring scheme design and evaluation; research methods; dissertation workshop
Assessment methods include written assignment and skills practice by observation. students also complete a dissertation.
