The production elements of the course engage with current practices in the film industry, and encourage independent filmmaking; the theoretical units have a bias towards new areas of study, particularly in the areas of sexuality, genre studies and post 9/11 culture; students study across a diverse range of cutting edge research areas and engage in critical thinking at the forefront of film research.

Entry requirements

An honours degree at 2.2 or higher; equivalent qualifications/professional management experience will be considered. Previous work experience in not required if you meet the entry requirements; students are selected on the basis of their outlook, potential and willingness to contribute to the course. If your 1st language is not English, you must have an IELTS score of 6.5 (6.0 writing and a minimum of 5.5 in reading, listening and speaking) or equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: learning and development; human resource management in context; leading, managing and developing people; developing skills for business leadership; resourcing and talent management; managing employment relations; investigating a business issue. Optional modules: leadership and management development; employment law; understanding and implementing coaching and mentoring.

Assessment methods

Assessment is through coursework in the form of essays, practical production projects, group and individual research projects, seminar presentations, pitches, portfolios and reflective writing projects.
