Film Production

This course focuses on independent film-making and current practices in the film industry. You will experiment with your creative ideas from the outset, taking advantage of our excellent industry-standard facilities, training and equipment. Throughout the course you'll develop your own personal style for your film-making, with the chance to explore new ideas and collaborate with other postgraduate students. Up-to-the-minute teaching and instruction will help you to build on your skills and experience and work towards your chosen career path and interests.

Entry requirements

An honours degree at 2.1 or above in a relevant discipline. A portfolio (demonstrating relevant skills) may be required for some students with lower degree classifications or a degree in a non-related discipline. If your 1st language is not English, you must have an IELTS score of 6.5 (6.0 in writing), or equivalent. Applicants who do not have English as their 1st language will be required to demonstrate an approved level of proficiency in the use of the English language. The agreed minimum requirements for this course are: IELTS minimum 6.5 (6.0 in writing); TOEFL IBT 92 (22 in writing); PTE Academic 61 (56 in writing) or equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: Finding fiction; the politics of non-fiction film; advanced film-making; professional practice; research methods; master's project.

Assessment methods

Assessment is through practical production projects, group and individual research, pitches and portfolio work.
