Physician Associate Studies
Applicants require an undergraduate degree or equivalent at 2nd class Honours in a life science or other health-related subject. Relevant work experience within healthcare or allied healthcare professions and/or environments within the last 3 years is required. Applicants should submit a personal statement addressing 2 set questions (describe how they think the role of a physician associate fits into the UK healthcare system, and discuss their motivation to become a physician associate, highlighting details of the experience, qualifications and personal qualities they can bring to the course). 2 satisfactory references dated within the last year are also required, one of these being a recent academic reference. Applicants should hold satisfactory health clearance and an agreement to undergo appropriate blood tests and immunisations against Hepatitis B, MMR Meningitis, TB and Chicken Pox. All applicants will also be required to have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 7.0 or equivalent (with a minimum 7.0 in each component).
Modules include: foundations of clinical medicine; evidence based practice in health care; applied pharmacology; personal and professional development for physician associates.
Assessment methods include written papers, written examinations, objective-structured clinical examinations, portfolio, coursework and presentations.
