This course will prepare students for a research degree or career in the biomedical science field (e.g. a PhD, the pharmaceutical industry, biotechnical supply companies); it can also serve as a stand-alone Master�s course with a strong emphasis on biomedical research.
Applicants require an undergraduate degree (2nd class Honours minimum) in biomedical science or a science-related subject. Relevant work experience from within the last 3 years is recommended. 2 satisfactory references are required dated within the last year, with one of these being a recent academic reference. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent (with a minimum 6.0 in each component).
Core modules include: Research methods; critical appraisal; statistics; research project planning and management. Optional modules include: To support projects in infection, immunity and cancer; to support projects in cardiovascular sciences, reproduction, neuroscience and human genetics.
Assessment methods include examinations, written assignments, oral presentations, reports, research project, posters.
