Gothic Culture, Subculture and Counterculture

The course covers gothic culture from 1750 to the present day, and also provides a grounding in critical theory and research methods suitable for advanced study.

Entry requirements

A good Bachelor's degree in literature, history, film and media studies, or any related discipline. In exceptional circumstances applicants without such a qualification may be accepted if they demonstrate a particular aptitude for this kind of study, usually through a written exercise.

Course modules

Semester 1 modules: academic orientation; research modernities; gothic origins 1750-1850. Semester 2 modules: the modern gothic; the contemporary gothic; research methods and dissertation.
