Staffordshire University

We are the Connected University. We’ve invested £75 million over the last few years in new buildings, digitally enabled learning spaces and state-of-the-art facilities. And we work hard to make sure our people are among the best in the business. When you study with us, you are consistently supported to realise your potential and achieve your career goals.

Alongside Centres of Excellence in Healthcare Education in Stafford and Shrewsbury, we have our central city campus in Stoke-on-Trent. Stoke-on-Trent is a great place to live – it recently made the shortlist for UK City of Culture 2021 – and it’s also among the top ten most affordable places to live in the UK (Zoopla, 2016).

Postgraduate study

We want to make postgraduate study accessible to anyone. That's why our experts are here to provide support and guidance on everything from choosing the right course to how to fund your postgraduate studies.

We have flexible options for part-time, full-time, distance learning and blended learning, so there’s bound to be something to suit everyone. Our taught and research-based course programmes span a range of disciplines from Law to Psychology, Engineering to Economics, Environmental Sciences and beyond.

Research excellence is central to our Connected University vision and strategy. 78 per cent of our research is world leading or of international importance (Research Excellence Framework 2014). Our research underpins our teaching, contributes to a positive student experience, makes a difference in society, and grows the reputation of the region.

We are committed to making new discoveries and delivering real benefits to the public and private sectors, the economy and society. From helping protect the feet of people with diabetes, to helping the UK meet its renewable energy targets, to developing video monitoring applications to help keep society safe, our academic research is making a world of difference.

Over recent years, we’ve invested no less than £75 million in facilities across our Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford and Shrewsbury campuses, including:

  • A £30 million Science Centre
  • £11.5 million on television, music, games design and motion capture suites in the Cadman Studios
  • £8.7 million worth of specialist computing facilities in the new Digital Kiln
  • £5 million to create the Beacon specialist learning building.

The Students’ Union helps students get involved with all sorts of activities and causes, as well as being the biggest student employer in the area. For further advice on employment, our Careers Network is always on hand.
We have trained guidance advisors who you can talk to confidentially about any problems you may have. Our Student Enabling Centre is also there to provide students with disabilities or learning difficulties with study-related advice and support.
