This programme aims to provide you with a programme of study that facilitates and develops the competencies necessary to achieve the NMC recordable qualification Specialist Practitioner - District Nursing. Enable you to develop new skills through the evaluation, understanding and application of research in order to advance the breadth and depth of their knowledge and that of the discipline. Develop the critical enquiry skills required for you to make sense of, and understand, complex issues and exploit these abilities to synthesise new perspectives, in order to deconstruct, interpret and manage unpredictable situations in the professional setting. Foster autonomy in advanced scholarship and therefore enable you to make active contributions towards research within the sphere of district nursing and health care practice. Provide opportunities for you to work in a range of settings, which will engage you in an environment of multi/inter-professional learning.

Entry requirements

Applicant must have professional registration on NMC Register, two years post qualification experience and support from seconding PCT. Applicants would also generally have successfully completed an undergraduate degree in a related subject.

Course modules

There are four core modules - Professional Practice, Leadership, Health Promotion and Research. The V100 Nurse Prescribing module is also compulsory component. Students are then able to select two modules from a defined range to complete their credit requirement.
