Film Production Technology

This programme aims to provide students with enhanced technical competency and creative proficiency to postgraduate level in digital film production technology which closely relates to industrial and commercial practice from the UK and international film and television sectors; digital film production technology skills are gained by offering individual research projects and group film productions, which increase creative ability, industry awareness, enhance technical ability, and encourage identification of skill shortages and areas of technical and academic expertise; there is a cross-disciplinary approach to student study that extend knowledge and application of broadcast and digital film pre-production, production and post-production skills in both creative and technical fields; the course concentrates on the major elements of the film making process, from pre-production planning, camerawork, grip, lighting, sound recording, editing and post-production.

Applicants are considered on an individual basis.

Course modules

Core modules: Advanced film production technology; project management and research methods; advanced post production technology in HD digital film; project and thesis.
