Music Technology

This course develops a deep understanding of the technologies and principles behind modern music production and distribution. Students learn advanced recording techniques, acoustics, mastering, digital sound synthesis, music software development and sound design.

Entry requirements

Applicants require a UK 2nd Class honours degree or equivalent in a related discipline. If you do not meet the above but have significant appropriate experience, your application will be considered, provided that you satisfy the university that you are capable of responding to the challenge of postgraduate work. If your 1st language is not English, you will need to demonstrate that you are fluent enough to cope with the course. A minimum score of IELTS 6 or TOEFL 550 (213 compute based) is normally required.

Course modules

Modules include: Audio recording; mastering and signal processing acoustics; modern composition; advanced pro tools techniques; electronics; electroacoustic composition.
