This award not only gives practical skills but provides a wide intellectual foundation; it fulfils the needs of the industry by producing journalists who are multi-skilled with an ability to gather news and produce written, audio and video packages for the web; students learn the essential skills and knowledge which allow them to work successfully throughout the course and in the industry, such as shorthand, media law, politics, ethics and regulatory issues; students learn how to report news, including interviewing people, gathering facts, using contacts and writing accurate, crisp stories and scripts; they receive technical training in the use of audio and video recording and editing, and learn how to package products and publish/broadcast on the web.
Good Honours degree or overseas equivalent, or equivalent postgraduate or post-experience diploma; all candidates are interviewed, including a written assessment.
