Effective Teaching in Higher Education
This award consists of a single 15 credit module; it covers many of the essential aspects of teaching and learning in higher education, with a particular focus on contemporary facilitation methods such as dialectic teaching, information processing and skill based delivery; the module goes on to explore modern approaches to assessment and feedback including the latest concepts of inclusivity and student choice; all learners on the award are subject to observation of teaching activities during the module programme.
Applicants are required to have a degree and have access to teaching in a HE context; equivalent qualifications and/or experience considered.
Modules may include: Planning, designing and resourcing teaching; teaching models and styles of delivery; aligning teaching and delivery styles to student learning characteristics; understanding assessment and feedback; evaluating learning; effective communication in the contemporary higher education context.
The module is assessed by portfolio.
