All students study the same 4 modules below with varying contents for each module (depending on the subject areas chosen for their project); supervising staff assist students in identifying and defining the detail of the module content (based on research and project work); students also have the opportunity to attend appropriate formal lectures at the university; there are a number of prescribed subtitles of this programme, including mechanical engineering; electronic engineering; electrical engineering; technology management; energy technology; design technology; sports technology; digital media technology.
2nd Class Honours degree or equivalent in technology, engineering, or a discipline related to the proposed MSc title; applicants who lack the academic requirements but have significant appropriate experience, may be considered; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6 or TOEFL 550 (213 computer-based).
Core modules: Project management and research methods (30 credits); advanced technology (30 credits); specialist technology (60 credits); MSc project and thesis (60 credits) applying the material studied in the previous modules to an advanced research project; preparation for planning and undertaking leading edge industry based research and development work with a high degree of competence and minimal supervision.
Most study and assessment is assignment based.
