Early Childhood Studies
The course develops and enhances the knowledge and skills of early years practitioners as they improve the outcomes and opportunities for children, families and communities; provide new opportunities to study in this specialised field of early childhood studies; deepen student's capacity to manage their own learning.
An upper 2nd Class Honours degree or equivalent qualification in a related discipline. Applicants who do not meet the requirements above will be considered on an individual basis, where there is evidence of relevant experience. Applicants may be required to attend an interview to determine their suitability for entry.
Modules may include: Critical perspectives on early years care and education; international perspectives in early years care and education research; methods and methodologies in educational research; advanced theoretical perspectives on children's crisis and trauma; quality pedagogy in early years care and education; early years science and outdoor classrooms; dissertation.
Assessment is through coursework, including written assignments, seminar presentations and a dissertation.
