English Literature

This course allows students to range widely across English studies rather than confine yourself to a narrow field and draws on the individual research expertise of members of staff. As well as choosing modules from the English Literature programme, students can select modules in any combination from other specialist courses offered by the department, such as Welsh writing in English and gender and culture programmes.

Entry requirements

The typical entry requirement is a 1st degree in English or a relevant discipline, normally an upper 2nd or above or equivalent. Overseas students are expected to possess an IELTS score of 6.5.

Course modules

Modules typically include: research practice (in English); the unsex'd females (women writers and the French Revolution); women writing India; the romantic sublime; women writing modern Wales; fascism and culture; Angela Carter; the modernist novel: James Joyce.
