This course aims to provide advanced training in civil engineering analysis and design, particularly in modelling and analysis techniques. Students will be provided with in-depth knowledge and exposure to conventional and innovative ideas and techniques to develop sound solutions to civil engineering problems. Through the course, students will also be provided with practical computer experience through the use of computational techniques, using modern software, to provide a solution to a range of current practical civil engineering applications. This will enable students to apply the approach with confidence in an industrial context.
The entry requirements for the course is a 1st or 2nd Class Honours degree in civil engineering or a similar relevant engineering or science discipline. English language requirement IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each component) or Swansea University recognised equivalent.
Modules include: Dynamics and transient analysis; finite element computational analysis; advanced structural design; entrepreneurship for engineers; computational plasticity; fluid-structure interaction; research project; coastal engineering; flood risk management; reservoir modelling and simulation.
