Projects are defined by our long standing industrial sponsors and address operational requirements identified by these companies. Projects are focused on our established areas of engineering expertise. The university is a leader in developing new manufacturing processes and products, such as functional coated steel. Research in this area is led by the SPECIFIC project, in collaboration with Tata Steel. Research into advanced, structural materials is undertaken in conjunction with the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre (UTC) in Materials based at Swansea. These projects are funded by the EPSRC Strategic Partnership in Structural Metals for Gas Turbines.
Applicants should hold an engineering or relevant physical sciences degree with a minimum level of 2.1, or with a relevant Master's level qualification.
