Mechanical Engineering

This course will equip students with the ability to make informed judgements on the most appropriate way to solve a range of mechanical engineering problems. The course covers the development of mechanical engineering tools, methods and techniques for problem solving, the ability to formulate an adequate representation of sets of experimental data, the use of these tools and techniques for real world applications, the ability to formulate an accurate representation of sets of experimental data, and business and management methods and their application in the field of engineering. The research project is of industrial relevance.

Entry requirements

Normally a 2.2 Honours degree or above in mechanical engineering or a relevant discipline. English language requirement IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each component) or Swansea University recognised equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: entrepreneurship for engineers, optimisation and reliability; composite materials; simulation based product design; advanced thermo fluid mechanics; research dissertation; systems monitoring, control, reliability, survivability, integrity and maintenance; polymer processing; process metallurgy and optimisation.
