Public Health and Health Promotion
This programme is designed to provide an understanding of the theoretical underpinnings of health promotion and public health, and enables students to experience health promotion in practice, and gain theoretical knowledge and apply it to practice, facilitating both their personal and professional development. The course is mapped to the National Occupational Standards for the Practice of Public Health and the Public Health Career Framework competencies.
Normally an Honours degree (2.1 or above), an equivalent recognised qualification or a period of at least 2 years relevant educational/professional experience with appropriate qualifications. International students will need a minimum IELTS score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in all domains, or a university approved equivalent.
Modules typically include: foundations in health promotion; public health ethics; developing programmes and evaluation; health protection; foundations in research; management and leadership for public health practice; public health evidence and epidemiology; public health practice; dissertation.
