Health Care Management

This course is provided in a research-based environment that allows health care managers to develop and enhance their skills. The programme has a particular emphasis on assessing evidence for what is effective in managing health care and leadership. There is a focus on economic evaluation and research-based evidence. The programme also aims to develop an appreciation for examining the evidence of good management so it can be put into practice in a context where health care is increasingly integrated with social care. It is taught by research-active staff from a range of disciplines.

Entry requirements

Applicants should possess either a 2.2 degree from a recognised university or awarding body, or equivalent qualifications, or have professional qualifications in a relevant field of work experience, or have at least 2 years relevant work experience. English language requirement for non native speakers is IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 in each component) or Swansea University recognised equivalent.

Modules typically include: theory and practice of leadership and management in health and social care; organising health care; social, cultural and economic context of health; politics and policies; evidence and research for health care management; quality improvement; comparing health care systems; economic evaluation in health care; foundations in public health and primary health; psychology of health care management.
