Education for the Health Professions
This programme has been designed specifically to meet the needs of the health care professional engaged in education in the clinical and or academic setting. This course will provide students with the opportunity to teach and develop their careers within health care education across a number of sectors including further education, higher education, the National Health Service, adult and community education, as well as private training providers. The course has been granted approval by the Nursing and Midwifery Council for a recordable teaching qualification.
Applicants must be either health professionals who teach in the workplace, or members of a medical or health care profession that teach as part of a university faculty. Applicants must have either an appropriate degree or its equivalent from an approved institution (preferably 2.1 or above) and evidence of recent academic study or a professional qualification and a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience and responsibilities considered by the University to be acceptable for the purposes of postgraduate admission.
Modules typically include: Teaching and learning for the health professions educators; teaching and learning for practice teachers; designing and evaluating your teaching; assessment and feedback; mentoring and supervision; teaching and learning in practice work based learning; simulation and e-learning; leadership in practice.
