This course is aimed at graduates from a wide range of disciplines and for those who are looking to change direction, fulfill the needs of a chosen career, or require a solid foundation in computer science. Over the duration of the course applicants will study a variety of modules taught by academic staff that are part of internationally renowned research groups. The course is also regularly updated to ensure that it keeps pace with the rapid developments in computer science.
Normally a 2.2 Honours degree or above in any discipline except computer science. English language requirement IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each component) or a Swansea University recognised equivalent.
Modules typically include: Programming in Java; computer system concepts; computer science project research methods; software concepts and efficiency; software engineering principles; critical systems; data visualisation; web application development; high performance programming in C/ C++; relational and object oriented database systems; embedded systems.
