Glaciology

Research interests include: glaciology and the cryosphere; specialising in understanding the processes that regulate glacier dynamics; calving; flow instabilities and surging; fast glacier flow; understanding environmental variability throughout the quaternary and the effects of future climatic change; regions especially sensitive to environmental change (tropical, cold and wildfire-prone); interactions between climate change, human disturbance and catastrophic events; using satellite and airborne remote sensing data, surface observational data, land-surface models and ecosystem models to understand the response of the biosphere to variations in climate.

Entry requirements

Normally a 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent in geography or a related field. English language requirement: IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each component) or a Swansea University recognised equivalent.

Assessment methods

These include a thesis and an oral examination (viva voce).
