Consistent with Swansea University's innovative approach to legal education, the College of Law and Criminology was amongst the first to provide the Solicitors Regulation Authority's new style Legal Practice Course complying with the updated Legal Practice Course outcomes. This is a professional, practical course that will equip you with the vital skills and confidence for a successful career in law in England and Wales. The course is consistently rated as excellent by both students and external organisations. The course is staffed by a dedicated team of friendly and supportive professionals with extensive experience of legal practice. We operate with first-class teaching facilities and a dedicated practitioner Resource Room with full network access to extensive electronic legal practitioner resources. Students at Swansea have the advantage of valuable networking opportunities and work experience placements supported by the course team.

Course modules

Stage 1 core practice areas: business law and practice; property law and practice; criminal and civil litigation; wills and administration of estates; professional conduct and regulation; solicitors accounts; practice skills of interviewing and advising, advocacy, drafting and writing, and practical legal research. Stage 2 vocational electives: advanced commercial law; business leases; employment law; advanced criminal practice; family and child care law and practice; personal injury and clinical negligence.
