Computing and Future Interaction Technologies

This course teaches graduate students to go beyond simply building new software and hardware, to evaluating how they would be used, and how they can be improved. The programme is taught by the Future Interaction Technology (FIT) Lab. The FIT Lab's mission is to explore and apply Advanced Computer Science to make interaction technologies dependable, enjoyable and effective. Interaction technologies include mobile devices, the Web, Web 2.0, implants, home televisions, microwave cookers, ticket machines, navigational aids, etc. Furthermore, the department aims to work on grand challenges, like improving safety in healthcare, developing technology to reach millions and helping to establish more effective and sustainable lives.
Taught modules typically include: human computer interaction project; development; interaction technologies (lab and field work); interaction technologies (seminars and readings); research methodology; mobile interaction design; interactive systems design; interaction technologies (information retrieval); interaction technologies (hardware and devices).
On the course you will be assessed by a combination of written examinations, coursework and a Dissertation.
