We invite applications from well-qualified candidates whose research interests correspond to our areas of research expertise focused around the following research groupings. Macroeconomic theory and time series econometrics: central bank behaviour and optimal monetary policy design; macroeconomic policy, wages and unionisation; central bank disclosure policy; invariant and Lagrange multiplier based unit root testing; threshold autoregressive and momentum threshold autoregressive-based testing procedures; smooth transition unit root tests; modified unit root and cointegration tests; alternative estimation procedures. Spatial economics research centre: Disparities in economic growth and prosperity in regional, city-region, local and individual neighbourhoods. Transitional economies and international development: Aid flows; labour markets, economic and political development; privatisation. Welsh economy labour market evaluation and research centre: Population profiles, migration flows, skills and qualifications, inactivity, employment, earnings, GDP growth rates and business information, and the analysis of data sets. Wales institute of social and economic research, data and methods: Quantitative analysis of large national data sets; training and capacity building; the production of new data either through in-house surveys or through the integration of existing data sets; spatial analysis of economic and social issues.

Entry requirements

MPhil applicants should normally hold a 1st or upper 2nd Class degree in economics or a related subject. PhD applicants should hold a Master's degree in economics or a related subject. English language requirement IELTS 6.5 (minimum of 6.0 in each component) or Swansea University recognised equivalent.
