Advanced Clinical Practice (Manipulative Therapy)
This course is aimed at physiotherapists in neuromusculoskeletal practice who wish to advance their specialist treatment and assessment skills. You attain high levels of autonomy and clinical decision-making skills for application to clinical practice, and extend your knowledge of manual and manipulative therapy skills to a specialist level. The course has been designed to provide a flexible learning pathway to accommodate the needs of the individual.
2.1 Class Honours degree in physiotherapy; applicants must be a chartered physiotherapist registered with the Health Professions Council with at least 2 years' post-registration experience, including musculoskeletal practice; applicants must be in neuromusculoskeletal practice while enrolled on the course.
Core modules include: Clinical management of neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction of the upper quadrant; concepts of neuromusculoskeletal manipulative therapy; evidence-based practice; clinical management of neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction of the lower quadrant; designing research projects; advanced practice-based negotiated learning (manipulative therapy); dissertation.
Assessments will take a variety of formats within different modules. Practical examinations form 50% of the assessment for clinical management modules.
