Advanced Clinical Practice (Neurological Rehabilitation)

This course is designed to provide a structured professional development pathway for postgraduate physiotherapists and occupational therapists with a special interest and experience in the field of neurological rehabilitation. It enables you to develop a comprehensive and critical understanding of evidence-based clinical practice and the skills to implement this in diverse settings within neurological rehabilitation. Key features of the course are inter-professional collaboration, user involvement and flexible study.

Entry requirements

Applicants will normally be postgraduate physiotherapists and occupational therapists with a minimum of a 2.2 degree and who are registered with the Health Professionals Council. You also need experience in practice and to be currently working in the field of neurological rehabilitation. Applicants with other qualifications and experience may be considered if they can provide evidence of their ability to study at Master�s level, and their previous qualifications are considered commensurate with the full CAMS level 3 criteria.

Course modules

Core modules include: Advanced assessment and evaluation in neurological rehabilitation; evidence-based approaches to neurological rehabilitation; evidence-based practice; designing research projects; the context of neurological rehabilitation; dissertation.

Assessment methods

A variety of written assignments including case studies from practice will be used in the assessments. For example, in the Evidence-based Practice module, you will complete a 3,000-word review for general management outlining the direction of an aspect of clinical practice (in the light of critically appraised research and current policy). And in the Advanced Assessment and Evaluation in Neurological Rehabilitation module, you complete a 4,000-word written assignment demonstrating skills of critical selection, critical evaluation application and assessment in relation to a �client�case study (delivered by video).
