Instrumentation and Control Engineering (Oil and Gas)

This programme is for graduate engineers wishing to further their careers and/or education. It will be of particular interest if you are a graduate looking to work as an instrumentation and control engineer, or if you are already employed in the sector and would like to upgrade your knowledge and skills. Instrumentation and control engineers are highly sought after in a range of industries � there is a particularly high demand from the oil and gas industries. This programme broadens your knowledge of instrumentation, electronics and control engineering and produces industry-relevant graduates as a result. It gives you a systematic and detailed understanding of the latest developments and techniques appropriate to instrumentation and control industries. This combination allows you to seek employment in a range of industries and roles. The programme also gives you the ability to synthesise information from a variety of sources and make effective decisions on complex instrumentation and control engineering problems.

Entry requirements

Applicants are expected to have an Honours degree (at least 2.2) in a related discipline, professional membership of an appropriate chartered institution or an equivalent relevant qualification. International students must hold an IELTS 6.0.

Course modules

Core modules include: Digital control and implementation; identification and model predictive control; petroleum and hydrocarbon operations; project management and enterprise; research and study skills; robust control systems; signal conditioning and data processing; individual project.

Assessment varies from module to module. The assessment methodology could include in-course assignments, presentations or formal examinations.
