Project Management

This course is suitable for developing managers, and those with management potential, working in the construction, process and manufacturing industries; students gain knowledge of and expertise in project management principles relevant to the manufacturing, process and construction industries, together with specialist knowledge of visualisation techniques, construction, space planning, 4-dimensional scheduling and risk management in engineering projects; additional modules together with the dissertation allow you to specialise in your chosen field.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to have at least a lower second class Honours degree. A wide range of subjects are acceptable, including disciplines in applied science, technology, engineering or mathematics. In addition, international students will normally need at least 6.0 with no component below 5.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test.

Course modules

Modules include: Advanced project planning and visualisation; procurement and contract strategy; managing operations and finance; practical health and safety skills; procurement and contract strategy; project management and enterprise; risk management in engineering project. Plus 1 optional module from: Managing change or managing projects with PRINCE2. These are followed by a 60-credit individual project.

Assessment methods

Assessment varies from module to module and can include in-course assignments, laboratory work, project dissertation, poster presentations and formal examinations.
