International Law

The programme gives students flexibility and autonomy to develop their own areas of interest within the area of international law; the link between legal theory and practice is the central theme of the programme and is incorporated into the teaching through a blend of directed and student-centred learning to develop an understanding of methodology, practice and presentation; this is achieved through a combination of lectures, seminars, group work, debates, audio-visual presentations, guided reading and research exercises; the research and academic writing skills developed in taught sessions enable students to prepare and contribute to seminars and group discussions, and to produce the required assessed work appropriate to postgraduate study; students are also encouraged to attend and participate in relevant research seminars offered by the research institutes of the University, particularly the Social Futures Institute (SoFI) in the School of Social Sciences and Law.
