Human Resource Management
Human resources professionals shape and inform strategic and operational decision making; they are concerned with ensuring that organisations employ the right balance of staff in terms of skills and experience, and ensuring that training and development opportunities are used to enhance performance and achieve objectives; this course meets the underpinning knowledge requirements for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Develoment (CIPD) professional membership grades, however, the membership grade awarded by CIPD is based on students' practical workplace experience of HR.
A good Honours degree (2.2 or above) in a business-related or human resources related discipline; a post-experience or professional qualification; equivalent qualifications (including international qualifications); applicants without a formal academic qualification but with appropriate work experience and professional training will also be considered.
Core modules include: Developing business skills for the human resources professional; human resource planning; leadership and business performance; leadership and management development; learning and development; resilient human resource management in context; management research; dissertation.
Assessment methods vary according to the modules studied and include examinations, assignments and presentations.
