Accounting and Finance

Accounting and finance are central to managing organisations effectively. This course integrates accounting, leadership and change, and gives students a practical insight into developing the discipline. It also provides students with a firm knowledge of accounting and finance and the adaptability needed in a rapidly changing environment. This course is distinctive in its focus on using financial skills in organisations rather than on mathematically modelling financial markets and in placing business accounting systems in the national and global business environment. Students develop hard and soft accounting skills as well as the interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively in the challenging business environment. The programme is suitable for fully or part-qualified accountants for whom significant exemptions are available.

Entry requirements

A good Honours degree (at least a 2.2) in a relevant discipline; or a post-experience or professional qualification; or equivalent qualifications (including international qualifications); a relevant professional qualification will enable students to enter the programme with substantial advanced standing; however students without an Honours degree but with significant appropriate work experience are still encouraged to apply.
