Accounting and Finance
This course integrates accounting, leadership and change, and gives students a practical insight into developing the discipline; it also provides students with a firm knowledge of accounting and finance and the adaptability needed in a rapidly changing environment; it has a focus on using financial skills in organisations rather than on mathematically modelling financial markets and placing the accounting system in the national and global business environment.
A good Honours degree (at least a 2.2) in a relevant discipline; or a post-experience or professional qualification; or equivalent qualifications (including international qualifications); a relevant professional qualification will enable students to enter the programme with substantial advanced standing; however students without an Honours degree but with significant appropriate work experience are still encouraged to apply.
Core modules include: Business management research; contemporary issues in accounting thought; corporate and international finance; critical aspects of auditing; dissertation; financial reporting, regulation and analysis; global environment and strategy; management accounting and strategy.
Assessment methods vary according to the module studied and include formal examinations, in-course work and presentations.
