Students are prepared in line with the requirements of the standards for the award of QTS and, where applicable, the statutory requirements.
Degree in relevant subject or equivalent. GCSE mathematics and English grade C. Where English is not a 1st language, IELTS 7.0 or equivalent is required. An acceptable enhanced disclosure certificate from the government�s Criminal Records Bureau (CRB). Occupational health clearance. An interview is required.
The course has 3 main components: subject studies; professional studies; teaching experience.
Students are assessed in 2 ways: on the development of their practical teaching and progress in achieving the requisite standards for the recommendation of Qualified Teacher Status, and on assignments, portfolio tasks and, in some instances, practical projects.
