This course provides academic and professional development; prepares students for leadership; gives students a foundation for original research work; advances their knowledge of English as a curriculum subject; examines and evaluates areas of controversy; looks at how research relates to practice and policy; increases awareness of the richness and scope of English as a field of study.
An Honours degree in English or a related area, or accepted equivalent.
Modules include: Contemporary issues in english in education; research methods; what is education; understanding research.
Assessment is by coursework assignments of up to 5,000 words and an 15,000-word dissertation or 10,000-word report.
