History of Education
Course expands knowledge and understanding of education through historical perspective; develops skills in historical methodology in context of education; communicates historical facts and interpretations; encourages participants to read widely and to develop and practise skills of critical analysis, research design and oral and written communication.
A 1st degree is required.
Modules include: History of education: concepts and international perspectives; theory and policy in education; education research; what is education; understanding research.
Assessment is by coursework assignments of up to 5,000 words and a 15,000-word dissertation or 10,000-word report.
