The course: guides students through the latest challenges and debates and the leading theories, concepts and research in the sociology of education; explores the wider political, social and cultural contexts of policy and practice in education; encourages students to use sociological research to reflect on their current and future roles in education; provides students with a grounding for evaluating education practice and for research in a range of public, private and voluntary educational contexts; prepares students for doctoral-level research in the field.
1st degree; applicants who do not meet this requirement may be able to qualify through special procedures.
