Geoinformatics for Building Information Modelling

This course focusses on the geoinformation aspects of building information modelling (BIM). The programme also embeds BIM into the wider organisational and legislative framework and introduces students to real-word applications of BIM, along with leading-edge 3-dimensional GIS and BIM-related research.

Entry requirements

Normally a minimum of an upper 2nd Class Honours degree from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard.

Course modules

Core modules: applied building information modelling; data analysis; GIS principles and technology; mapping science; principles and practices of surveying; spatial data management; terrestrial data acquisition.

Assessment methods

The programme is delivered through a combination of lectures, practical exercises, and involvement in projects. Assessment is through written examination, coursework and project work.
