Engineering and Public Policy

The course challenges on both a local and a global scale increasingly hinge on issues that require significant technological and engineering knowledge. This new flagship programme aims to address explicitly policy challenges around the world by encouraging better connections and a stronger collaborative relationship between science and engineering and public policy and decision-making.

Entry requirements

A minimum of an upper 2nd class Bachelor's degree from a UK university in a relevant discipline, or a 3.5 GPA, or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard. Students are encouraged (but are not required) to have several years' work experience prior to enrolling on this programme.

Course modules

Modules include: Introduction to science, technology, engineering and public policy; analytic methods for policy analysis 1; either natural science and engineering methods and evidence (for policy and social science stream only); or public policy, governance and decision-making (for natural science and engineering stream only; knowledge systems for global policy challenges; public leadership and policy entrepreneurship in science, technology, engineering and public policy; analytic methods for policy analysis 2.

Assessment methods

Assessment is through written assignments, presentations, collective and individual projects and reports.
