Physiology

Research is centered around 3 areas: Cell and molecular biology where current research includes large groups working in cell secretion; lipid signalling; nuclear andmitochondrial function; calcium signalling; neuroscience where the department has an outstanding record in its work on neuronal and synaptic function, sensory transduction; in particular hearing; and the autonomic nervous system; systems physiology where there are laboratories, in many cases with strong clinical applications; pursuing studies of cardiovascular and respiratory physiology; the gastrointestinal tract and the kidney.

Entry requirements

MPhil/PhD: A medical degree (MBBS) or a science/engineering degree in a relevant subject, or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard; for the MD(Res): a medical degree (MBBS) or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard.
