Genetics

Research interests include: ecological and population genetics; evolutionary biology in insects, especially fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster, and stalk-eyed fly, Cyrtodiopsis dalmanni; genetics of mimicry, speciation and conservation genetics in Lepidoptera; sex and evolution; human molecular genetics; human gene mapping; cancer genetics; human pre-implantation genetics; genetic analysis of human facial features; transgenic mice, eye development in mouse; human Y chromosome, chromosome 9, tuberous sclerosis; rhesus blood group genes, carbonic anhydrase, T-box gene T; alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency, especially in relation to liver disease in childhood; lactase persistence, mucins, highly polymorphic families of genes; human phosphoglucomutase (PGM) protein family.

Entry requirements

A 2nd Class Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard.
