MPhil/PhD research places are available in the following areas: molecular properties and pharmacology of GABA receptors; pharmacological control of neuronal excitability; pharmacology of synaptic transmission; voltage-dependent calcium channel expression and modulation; the function and pharmacology of monoamine neurotransmitters; pain and analgesia; nicotinic receptors; regulation of neurotransmitter release; glycine receptors; drugs and the immune response.
The normal minimum qualifications are an upper 2nd Class Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard.
A quota of Medical Research Council studentships; some other industrial studentships.
