Mathematics and Physics in the Life Sciences and Experimental Biology

The main research areas are: Bioinformatics and neuroinformatics; integration of molecular and cellular function; biophysical interactions; evolution and the dynamics of disease processes; cell and gene networks.

Entry requirements

Minimum upper 2nd-Class Bachelor's degree in any area of mathematical, physical, computer, engineering or life sciences from UK university; or overseas qualification of equivalent standard; progression to PhD element depends on achieving MRes standard in 1st year. If your education has not been conducted in the English language, you will be expected to demonstrate evidence of an adequate level of English proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL or equivalent qualification).

Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC); Medical Research Council (MRC), Cancer Research UK and CoMPLEX/UCL studentships are available.
