History of Art
Research areas include: art theory and the history of the discipline; British, French and German art and architecture c. 1700-1945; cross-cultural studies and globalisation; materials, objects and practices of art history; modern and contemporary art; Renaissance and early modern studies; the history of the body and the relationship between art and science; the history of visual technologies (print, photography, time-based media).
A UK Master�s degree in a relevant discipline, or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard; plus Upper 2nd Class UK Bachelor�s or its overseas equivalent at 1st degree level.
Assessment is by a written thesis of 100,000 words.
The department has 3 overseas bursaries (approximately �5,000 each) and one bursary (�2,000) specifically tied to the study of British art.
