Academic Research and Methods
The diploma facilitates the transition from a variety of educational backgrounds to the taught research-oriented graduate studies offered by UCL and other leading universities, by equipping students with essential skills in critical thinking, argumentation and research methods.
A minimum of an Honours degree in any discipline with a final cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Core modules: introduction to theories of community; research 1 (research proposal); collective memory and the representation of the past; research 2 (mini-dissertation).
The programme is delivered through a combination of lectures, seminars, workshops and weekly individual supervision sessions. Assessments include two portfolios consisting of essays, presentations and reports, and a research project consisting of a 3,000-word research proposal, a 6,000-word mini-dissertation and an oral examination.
