Human Resource Management

The course fulfils the professional learning, training and development needs of those who are in the early part of their career in human resource management, training and development or employee relations; it is also a means by which experienced HR or line managers can up-date their knowledge and understanding of best practice and ground their experience within a theoretical context.

Entry requirements

Degree or equivalent professional or other equivalent qualification, plus minimum 1 years relevant work experience in the human resource management function or a related role in industry, commerce or the public sector; exceptional entry considered.

Course modules

Modules include: Leading, managing and developing people; huamn resources management (HRM) in context; developing skills for business leadership; organisation design and development; investigating a business issue; employee relations; resourcing and talent management; employment law; alongside the year 2 modules students also complete a management research report (PgD exit) or a dissertation and reflective practice report (MSc HRM) with the guidance of an academic supervisor; students can opt to complete the dissertation during a third year of study.

Assessment methods

The programme is internally assessed and there is a range of assessment used including, assignments, class tests, seen and unseen examinations; 2/3 of the assessment is by coursework and 1/3 by examination.
