University for the Creative Arts
This is a project led and studio-based course with tutorial guidance, where you will create individual work of excellence through rigorous academic research and studio practice. You will receive the opportunity to make objects, experiment with materials and processes and develop individual creative thinking. The course supports a wide range of ceramics practices (historical, traditional and contemporary) and encourages innovation in ceramics design and technology. We aim to guide recent graduates and professionals in maximising talent and creatively ability so they can further develop skills for future engagement within the arts, crafts, design and the creative industries. Our courses are designed for talented, self-motivated individuals wishing to work at the forefront of artistic, creative industries and enterprises.
A good Honours degree (normally 2.1 or above) or equivalent qualification in a chosen subject or a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience, demonstrating the ability to study at postgraduate level. Applicants will be required to attend an applicant day to present a portfolio of work.
Stage 1: Studio practice, theory and analysis; exploratory practice. Stage 2: Reflective practice. Stage 3: Final project.
Both practical work and theoretical writing is assessed. This may include essays, presentations, research papers or catalogues, research journals and sketch books, tests and experimentations.
Elfriede Windsor Scholarship: �5,000 (1-off payment). UCA current students who will be progressing onto a Master's in either fine art or ceramics. Academic excellence (2.1 or above anticipated).
